Reason #2 Why You Should Register Now for Kindle the Fire 2019 Can we talk straight here? You really need to go to Kindle the Fire 2019. There are lots of reasons, but here is one of the most important ones: You don’t get out nearly enough. Now we don’t mean that as a criticism. Not at all. Most small church pastors work way more than their share of hours. Besides prayer, study, and sermon preparation, there are bible studies to lead, committee meetings that need your presence, counseling sessions, administrative work, discipleship, outreach, and any number of small but very important tasks tugging at your time. So the fact that you don’t get out enough is perfectly understandable. It’s just that is isn’t especially helpful -- or healthy. Of course, rest and relaxation are an important part of your week. You need a sabbath just as much as anyone. So take some time off for self-care. But there is another side to that coin. It’s called sharpening the ax. The short version is that Abraham Lincoln is supposed to have said: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” You see, you can take a sharp axe and get to work, and in a day you might fell 10 or 15 trees. The next day, you can work just as hard, but only drop 7 or 10. The next day you keep the same solid pace for just as many hours, but you might only take down 5 or 6 trees. You are working just as hard, but accomplishing less. Why? Because your axe has gotten dull and you haven’t taken time to sharpen it. At Kindle the Fire 2019, you will gather with other New England pastors and ministry leaders, to learn from other New England pastors and ministry leaders. This is important because much of New England is small, rural, and out of the way. Your churches are often carrying on in pinched circumstances, with few resources, aging infrastructure, and a slim volunteer corps. But this is where God has called you. Kindle the Fire 2019 is one of the ways God is providing for you as he sends you. We want to encourage you. There will other church leaders facing similar challenges. It is good to know that you are not alone, and be reminded that God is at work among us. We want to equip you. We will be remembering God's promises, and learning how to apply them in our context. God works through means, and Kindle the Fire is about learning how we can employ those means to join God in the work he is already doing. We are going to talk about the shape of gospel ministry in New England. What it means to be on mission where you are, and how to find joy even when things get tight and tough We want to give you what you need to sharpen that axe so that you can keep doing the work to which God has called you. You need this. So do your leaders. And so does your church. So click the button below and register for Kindle the Fire 2019.
