You may have noticed that, for the first time ever, we are offering online registration for our Annual Gathering in March. In the past we have sent out paper registration forms, which must be returned by mail with a check. This system worked reasonably well, in spite of the time, expense, and work involved.
Today, however, we have other options that are quicker, less expensive, and give us more control over the process. On of the most common solutions for event registration is EVENTBRITE. Eventbrite is a U.S.-based event management and ticketing website. The service enables event attenders to register quickly and efficiently, and allows event organizers to save time and keep better track of event related information.
Never fear! You can still register by paper. But we offer registration through Eventbrite because it really does make it easier for everyone.
Online registration is less expensive
The region saves on the cost of paper and postage, and all the associated costs with managing paper registrations as they arrive. Attenders can access Eventbrite for free and even download an app for their mobile devices so that they can manage their registrations on the go.
Online registration saves time
The Region Office spends loads of time managing, reading, sorting and recording incoming paper registrations. After you fill out every box on the form and mail it, someone in the office has to read every box and re-enter that information into some ledger or spreadsheet. Eventbrite records all your information as you type it in so that we don’t have to duplicate your efforts.
Online registration is quicker
Online registration is quick and easy. The system guides you through the options for registering in a step by step, click by click, linear process. It makes decision making easy and gets you set up in no time. Once you hit that final button you are all set. There is no need to track down a stamp and make that long walk to the mailbox. You are instantly registered.

You wouldn’t believe all the little details that go with registering people for a conference like this. Eventbrite helps us keep track of it all because everything about your registration is recorded and available for reporting with few clicks of a mouse. We can see at a glance what trends are shaping up so that we can make adjustments accordingly. This adds up to a better experience for everyone at the Gathering.
Online registration sends a message
Some people might not feel comfortable with all this online this and internet that. And that’s fine. That’s why we still offer paper registration. Nevertheless, for more and more people doing things online is becoming the norm. In fact, people expect to be able to go online to take care of their business. By offering online registration through Eventbrite, we are sending a signal to younger people that ABCVNH is not hopelessly mired in old ways of doing things. There are times when old things are definitely better, but there are also times when old things are simply familiar and comfortable even when they are clunky and worn out. Using Eventbrite sends a small but important signal to younger Baptists that we are catching up. It is possible that some who might not have attended the Gathering will come because they see that registering is easier online. And that group will likely become larger as time goes on.
